US President Trump begins official contacts in China
US President Donald Trump traveled to Beijing, the capital of China, for a three-day official visit at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
According to CCTV, Trump arrived in Beijing on Wednesday evening. He was welcomed at the airport by Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu, and China’s Ambassador to Washington Xie Feng.
Following the reception, a military ceremony was held for Trump. Members of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) presented an honor guard salute, while a military band accompanied the welcome ceremony. Chinese youths were also seen waving the flags of the two countries.
It was stated that the visit is the first visit by a US president to China in the last nine years and also the first face-to-face meeting between the two leaders since their meeting last year in Busan, South Korea.
China’s Foreign Ministry announced that Xi Jinping will hold a comprehensive exchange of views with Trump on China-US relations as well as global peace and development during the talks.
