Ukraine: The return of children cannot wait until the war ends
Kyiv, November 5 (Hibya) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha emphasized the need to bring home Ukrainian children unlawfully deported and forcibly transferred by Russia, announcing that Slovakia had joined the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children as its 53rd member.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha issued a statement regarding Russia's unlawful deportation and forcible transfer of Ukrainian children.
In a statement shared on social media, Sybiha said that every day children spend away from their homeland represents a part of their childhood that can never be recovered, emphasizing that their return cannot wait until the war ends.
Sybiha thanked Slovakia for joining the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children as its 53rd member, noting that every new member strengthens collective efforts to bring the children back to Ukraine.
Sybiha stated that Slovakia's accession sends a strong message that the international community will not accept the unlawful deportation and forcible transfer of Ukrainian children.
Emphasizing that children must not become bargaining chips in negotiations, Sybiha said their return must be an integral part of all initiatives aimed at achieving a just peace. He also stressed that those responsible for these actions must be held accountable and stated that Ukraine would continue working with its partners until every Ukrainian child returns home.
