Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna made a statement regarding an international initiative concerning Russia’s attacks on Ukraine.

Tsahkna said, “Seventeen states have confirmed their readiness to take part in the governance of a special tribunal to be established under the auspices of the Council of Europe for the crime of aggression against Ukraine.”

Highlighting progress in the process, Tsahkna stated, “The Council’s threshold has been crossed, and the agreement can now be formally submitted for approval.”

Thanking the supporting countries, Tsahkna said, “I thank all our partners and allies, including our latest supporters Poland and Iceland, for joining this critical initiative. This is an important milestone.”

Emphasizing that the tribunal should be established without delay, Tsahkna said, “The special tribunal must begin its work without delay. Russia’s serious violations of international law must have consequences. Justice is inevitable.”
