Trump: I do not believe in regime change in Iran
France, 16 June (Hibya) - US President Donald Trump made remarks in France ahead of his meeting with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Trump stressed that Iran will not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons, saying: “I absolutely do not believe in regime change. Regime change takes years and does not work.”

He reiterated opposition to Iran acquiring nuclear weapons, saying they told Iranian officials: “You will not develop nuclear weapons, you will not buy them, and you will not have any nuclear weapons in any form.”
On Iran’s current leadership, Trump noted significant changes and said new figures appear more rational and less radical compared to previous groups.
He also addressed regime change, saying: “I absolutely do not believe in regime change. Regime change takes years and does not work.”
Trump thanked Qatar and its Emir for their support and said they took a courageous stance during the crisis.
Regarding Israel, he said he was not satisfied with its position on Lebanon and Hezbollah, adding: “If I had not intervened, Israel would have been gone long ago.”
