Spajic: Montenegro closes two more chapters in EU accession talks
Brussels, July 14 (Hibya) – Montenegro's Prime Minister Milojko Spajic announced that two more chapters of the country's European Union accession negotiations were closed during the Intergovernmental Conference held in Brussels.
Montenegro's Prime Minister Milojko Spajic announced at the Intergovernmental Conference in Brussels that Chapter 8 "Competition" and Chapter 29 "Customs Union" had been closed in the country's EU accession negotiations.
Spajic said that with this development Montenegro has now closed more than half of the negotiating chapters, adding that the country has established institutions capable of protecting competition, ensuring a fair market and safeguarding the European Union's external borders.
Spajic also thanked Ireland for its leadership of the EU Council Presidency, noting that Montenegro continues to make progress toward completing its accession negotiations this year with the support of the member states.
