Sharif: Let us work together to build lasting peace in the region and beyond
Islamabad, April 8 (Hibya) - Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called for unity to achieve lasting peace, thanking friendly and brotherly countries that supported the process ahead of the "Islamabad Talks" set to begin following the ceasefire in the region.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued a message of gratitude to international actors who contributed to diplomatic efforts following the ceasefire that halted the conflicts between the United States and Iran.
Sharif stated in his remarks ahead of the summit to be held in Islamabad:
"As we move towards the Islamabad Talks, I would like to express our deepest and most sincere gratitude to our brotherly countries — the People's Republic of China, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Türkiye, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the State of Qatar — for their invaluable and full support in reaching the ceasefire and for enabling peaceful diplomatic efforts to have a chance to bring a comprehensive and definitive end to the conflict."
Sharif also highlighted the role of Gulf countries, stating: "We also owe deep appreciation and gratitude to our brotherly countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, whose consistent support and commitment to peace and stability in the region have been indispensable to our efforts."
Praising the leaders who showed prudence during the process, Prime Minister Sharif said: "The leadership of all our brotherly countries and the United States demonstrated extraordinary strategic foresight, prudence, and patience in giving peace a chance. I also thank all our partners and friends around the world for reaching out and recognizing Pakistan’s sincere efforts for global peace."
Sharif concluded his statement by saying, "Let us work together to build lasting peace in the region and beyond."
