Russia says it does not recognize U.S. continental shelf decision
Moscow, Aug. 6 (Hibya) - Russia stated during the 31st session of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) Assembly that it does not recognize the United States' unilateral decision to define its continental shelf beyond the 200-nautical-mile limit.
Russia's Foreign Ministry commented on the U.S. decision regarding the continental shelf during the 31st session of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) Assembly.
In its statement, the ministry said the Russian delegation had reiterated its position regarding the U.S. attempt to unilaterally define the limits of its continental shelf beyond the 200-nautical-mile boundary.
The statement stressed that Russia does not recognize the decision in question.
In its assessment, Russia's Foreign Ministry also emphasized the importance of processes based on international maritime law.
