Qatar issued a statement regarding Israel’s actions toward Palestinians.

According to a statement posted on the Qatar Foreign Ministry’s social media account, Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Hend Abdulrahman Al Muftah, presented her country’s views during the general debate on the human rights situation in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories at the 63rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council. The 63rd regular session of the Human Rights Council is being held in Geneva from September 7 to October 7, 2026.

Al Muftah said the continuation of the Israeli occupation, violations and crimes against Palestinians, the expansion of illegal settlements, attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians, as well as attacks against Syria and Lebanon, constitute serious violations of international law.

Al Muftah said Qatar condemned the continuing attacks on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, the targeting of civilians and infrastructure, and the ongoing humanitarian hardships faced by Palestinians, while also criticizing actions by settlers and extremists targeting Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Al Muftah argued that attempts to alter the historical, legal and demographic character of East Jerusalem were also unacceptable.

Al Muftah claimed that Israel’s refusal to implement the comprehensive plan aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza constituted a direct challenge to international efforts backed by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803, arguing that this was intended to undermine efforts to achieve a just, comprehensive and lasting peace, implement the two-state solution, and establish an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Al Muftah called on the international community to work toward ending the Israeli occupation and ensuring accountability for crimes said to have been committed against Palestinians, while also calling for an end to support that contributes to the expansion and entrenchment of Israeli settlements.

Al Muftah also welcomed measures taken by some countries, including trade restrictions on goods originating from settlements, and called for these measures to be expanded in order to avoid supporting illegal settlement activities and to ensure that states fulfill their responsibilities.
