Portugal and Italy to establish a regular political consultation mechanism
Rome, July 20 (Hibya) – Portugal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that, during Prime Minister Luis Montenegro's visit to Italy, Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel met in Rome with Italy's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
As part of Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro's visit to Italy, Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel met with Italy's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
According to the ministry, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding providing for regular political consultations between the two countries.
The statement noted that Prime Minister Montenegro's visit is expected to give new momentum to bilateral relations between Portugal and Italy, cooperation within the European Union, and multilateral platforms. Cooperation in Africa, as well as security and defense, were highlighted among the main topics of the meeting.
