Palestinian Foreign Ministry stresses UNRWA's irreplaceable role
Ramallah, July 1 (Hibya) - The Palestinian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) plays an indispensable role in education, healthcare, and humanitarian assistance, calling for its operations to continue.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry issued a statement stressing that the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) is a vital institution for Palestinian refugees.
The statement said that UNRWA provides education, healthcare, social protection, and emergency assistance in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, as well as in refugee camps in neighboring countries.
The ministry recalled that UNRWA was established under a United Nations mandate and operates within the framework of international law, emphasizing that the continuation of its work is of critical importance.
The statement also stressed that attempts to undermine UNRWA's mandate are unacceptable and that humanitarian assistance cannot replace the internationally guaranteed rights of the Palestinian people.
The Palestinian side called on the international community to protect UNRWA's mandate and activities and to continue supporting the agency until a just and lasting solution is achieved.
