Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Varsen Aghabekian Shaheen participated in the high-level meeting of the International Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, held in Rome on July 28–29. The meeting was co-chaired by Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.

Shaheen thanked the Italian government for hosting the meeting and expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia's support for Palestine and its efforts toward achieving a two-state solution.

Addressing the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, Shaheen said that attacks in Gaza were continuing, humanitarian aid entering the territory remained insufficient, and settler violence in the West Bank had increased. She called on the international community to act to protect the Palestinian people in accordance with international law.

Shaheen also stressed that the Palestinian issue is a political matter, emphasizing the importance of a just political solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. She called on the international community to move beyond political consensus and ensure the implementation of international law and United Nations resolutions.
