Major currencies posted mixed performance in global foreign exchange markets on the first trading day of the week. While the euro and the British pound recorded modest gains against the U.S. dollar, the Australian dollar weakened. The U.S. dollar traded largely flat against the Japanese yen and the Canadian dollar.

The euro/U.S. dollar (EUR/USD) pair rose 0.0088 percent to 1.1368, while the British pound/U.S. dollar (GBP/USD) pair gained 0.02 percent to trade at 1.3289.

The U.S. dollar/Japanese yen (USD/JPY) pair slipped 0.0061 percent to 163.73, while the Australian dollar/U.S. dollar (AUD/USD) pair fell 0.27 percent to 0.6970.

Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar/Canadian dollar (USD/CAD) pair declined 0.0283 percent to trade at 1.4119.

Investors in the foreign exchange markets continued to closely monitor global economic data and expectations regarding central banks' monetary policies, while major currencies recorded only limited movements.
