In Australia, the ASX 200 index rose 0.46 percent to 8,887.60 points. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 index gained 0.62 percent, reaching 64,352.19 points.
In India, the Nifty 50 index increased 0.20 percent to 22,745.15 points. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index climbed 0.05 percent to 23,106.71 points.
In China, the Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.93 percent to 3,647.117 points.
