Lahbib: Our teams and partners are on the ground against the Ebola outbreak in Uganda
Brussels, May 20 (Hibya) - European Union (EU) Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib announced that teams and partners are already on the ground in response to the Ebola outbreak in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.
EU Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib shared information regarding ongoing efforts and planned medical aid for the Ebola outbreak in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.
Speaking about the current situation and the measures taken, Lahbib said, “Ebola outbreak in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda: Our teams and partners are already on the ground at critical points, strengthening surveillance, conducting contact tracing, and providing support in high-risk border areas.”
Lahbib also shared details of the humanitarian assistance to be delivered to the region, stating, “In addition, together with UNICEF, we are preparing a Humanitarian Air Bridge that will transport around 100 tons of medical supplies, personal protective equipment, and emergency equipment to support frontline response teams and approximately 100 thousand people affected in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.”
