Israeli Defense Minister Katz: Zero tolerance for refusal to serve
Jerusalem, July 19 (Hibya) – Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that there would be no tolerance for refusal or unwillingness to serve in the ranks of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), announcing that he had instructed the removal of a soldier who called for refusal to serve on political grounds.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz emphasized the importance of discipline within the military, stating that he would not allow the phenomenon of refusal to serve to return to the ranks of the Israel Defense Forces for any reason.
Expressing his determination to eliminate the phenomenon entirely, Katz said: "As I have done since taking office as Defense Minister, I am determined to completely eradicate the phenomenon of refusal to serve from the Israel Defense Forces. One law applies to everyone."
Sharing the concrete decision he had taken, Katz stated: "I instructed the Chief of Staff to ensure that Omri Ronen, who advocates and promotes refusal to serve for political reasons, is removed from any service framework within the Israel Defense Forces. This is the policy."
