European Council President Antonio Costa received the newly appointed President of the Republic of Benin, Romuald Wadagni, in Brussels.

During the meeting, the structural reform agenda, which is among Wadagni’s priorities, was discussed, and assessments regarding Benin’s economic and institutional transformation process were shared.

Costa congratulated Wadagni on his new position and emphasized that relations between the European Union and Benin are built on a strong foundation of shared values and interests.

The parties highlighted the importance of cooperation in ensuring peace, stability, and security, particularly in the Sahel region, and agreed to further strengthen the existing partnership.
