Responding to a question about the renewed escalation in the Middle East at a regular press conference held today, ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said China is following developments with deep concern.

Calling on all sides to remain calm and restrained, Lin stressed the importance of avoiding actions that could escalate the conflict, taking concrete steps to reduce tensions, and resolving disputes through political and diplomatic means in order to achieve a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire as soon as possible.
