At a time when geopolitical competition is intensifying, disruptions are occurring on critical maritime trade routes and protectionist tendencies are gaining strength, global industrial and supply chains are facing unprecedented uncertainties.
The China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE), held in this environment, attracted great interest worldwide. According to a survey conducted by China Global Television Network (CGTN), affiliated with China Media Group (CMG), 79.5 percent of respondents said they appreciated China’s contributions to the development of an open world economy and viewed the country as a strong defender and builder of global industrial and supply chains.
This year’s CISCE was attended by 676 companies and institutions from 85 countries, regions and international organizations. The proportion of foreign exhibitors rose to 36.5 percent, while the total number of participants exceeded 1,200. The number of foreign business delegations that came to China to hold talks as part of the fair exceeded 200. Some 83.3 percent of respondents described this picture as an indicator of the strong appeal of China’s market and industrial chains for global companies. Meanwhile, 80.8 percent of participants said the intense interest in CISCE stemmed not only from China’s comprehensive industrial chain advantage, but also from the shared expectation of the global business community to strengthen international industrial and supply chain cooperation.
The Artificial Intelligence Pavilion, established for the first time at this year’s fair, also drew attention. Bringing together leading global artificial intelligence companies such as NVIDIA and Intel, the pavilion hosted cooperation and exchanges of ideas for the industrial ecosystem of the future. Some 66.8 percent of respondents said CISCE provided an important international exchange and cooperation platform for the integration of artificial intelligence technologies with industrial chains. Meanwhile, 80.1 percent of participants said they believed CISCE, the world’s first national-level fair themed around supply chains, would promote deeper integration and cooperation in global industrial and supply chains.
The Beijing Initiative, published as part of the fair, called for the implementation of true multilateralism, the firm protection of the multilateral trading system with the World Trade Organization (WTO) at its core, greater alignment with high-standard international economic and trade rules, and stronger cooperation between industrial and supply chains. Some 82 percent of respondents said CISCE offered a valuable platform for maintaining the stability and smooth operation of global industrial and supply chains and for advancing international economic and trade cooperation. Meanwhile, 86.4 percent of participants emphasized that China’s efforts to build, together with all countries, a new development model that is more resilient, more sustainable and based on mutual benefit demonstrated its strong commitment to the stability of global industrial and supply chains.
The survey was conducted on CGTN’s English, Spanish, French, Arabic and Russian-language platforms. Within 24 hours, 4,753 internet users participated in the survey and shared their views.
